Can A Siamese Fighting Fish (betta) Live In A Small Outdoor Pond?

I built a small pond and the liner from Home Depot and disquised large stones – some inside the pond as well. It is a pump to go water to a waterfall that I built. Can I place a Siamese fighting fish in a pond?

Yes, until the temperature drops below about 65 over night. At that point the fish will probably die. Certainly it will die once the water temperature drops that low at night. So yes, for the summer, but after that you will need to bring the fish indoors.

Not unless you live somewhere tropical where it doesn’t get cold – EVER.
If you dont want to risk losing it to bird or cat or whatever you’ll need to place netting over the pond – but why place such a pretty creature in there, why not delight in him inside where he’ll be more comfortable and apreciated and place goldfish in the pond where they belong?

yes but not with other siamese fighting fish they will fight an may become fatal

Theoretically, yes, but a bird or nocturnal animal or neighbor’s cat will most likely eat it. If he had an appropriate place to hide in the pond, under leaves or a rock shelf or a deep end, he might be okay.
