Can I Use A Pond Filter On My Fish Tank Attached To My Sump?

Would I have any distress if I use a pond filter (300gph) and attach it to my sump therefore I wont have any out flow issues in my main show tank. And I want to use it on a 36gal saltwater tank.

Pumps are pumps and from a water movement perspective the pump doesn’t care what it’s pumping as long as there aren’t particles to hurt the impeller. In terms of water flow you’re looking at 10 times turn over rate from 1 source on your aquarium. I like an 8-10 times turn over/water circulation movement in saltwater tanks though make sure this is well gathered and properly distributed. BTW once you have some filtration on this pump and the head from the sump back up your flow will be a lot less anyway. This pump will work fantastic delight in.
